As a refresher for the veterans and an introduction for the rookies, here's a the rules and regulations for the 2007 Tournament
- Fishing is for a total of one (1) hour which begins and ends with an official sounding horn. Those caught fishing outside of these times will be subject to a severe beating or training session on the correct installation of silt fence.
- Teams consist of two (2) members. Rankings are based on the combined "creel" value of both team members. Creel values are based on the length and quantity of fish caught.
- Fish values are determined by the length of the fish. The fish length corresponds to a color on the official measuring device (see photo above). The length of each slot if based on a vast amount of statistical data on fish conditions and growth patterns for the northeastern Illinois freshwater fishery as taken from reliable sources. For example, if you catch a 4" fish that corresponds to a "Black" slot. (see previous post for color to slot values) A black slot is worth $1.81. This $1.81 is added to your creel total. If you catch two "black" slotted fish, your creel increases by $3.62.
- The creel values accumulate every event and the team with the highest creel value at then end of six events is the winner and has bragging rights for a year.
- You may have your fish measured when you catch them or, preferably, bring a bucket and collect a number of fish for measurement at one time.
- There is a weekly bonus of $5.00 for the person who successfully lands the first fish. You must signal this first fish with a shout of "Hee Haw" in order to attract the Tournament Commissioner and have the fish measured.
- The Commissioner has sole discretion concerning the official length and reporting. There is a appeal process that involves bleach, olive oil, a toilet brush and an adolenscent wolverine in the event that you feel your fish was measured incorrectly. Appeals must be submitted in writing (old English font only) on LEED certified parchment.
- The entry fee is $10.00 per person ($20.00 per team). The funds are used to purchase pizza and trophies for the end-of-year crowning of the Carp Pros as 2007 Tournament Champions (or anyone else who dare challenge them).
