The weather broke, the sun came out and a full contingent of anglers made an appearance at Event #1 at Shull's Hole. When the horn sounded at 12:45 the combined total of the 14 anglers was 391 fish for a creel value of $759.17.
Despite a strong start by the Bass Turds who staked out their honey hole, the powerhouse known as the Carp Pros (your three time defending champions) were able to rally to a $40 lead, considered by many very tentuous heading into Event #2 at MI-40, the home waters of the 'Turds. Also showing mid-season form was the Gaff Masters, led by Tim's 51 fish showing eveyone why they are the odds on favorite to mount a challenge to the Bass Turds for the second place position. The revitalized Bass Poles managed a respectable showing and seem in position to move up in the standings once the bugs are worked out of the system. Pancho and Lefty struggled in thier rookie outing and longtime followers of the Tournament know that when Niehoff the puppet master see the results it's likely that the duo will have many points t0 gather in the far corners of the Lab. Some think that the ever volitale Niehoff may yank his starters and go with the RJN boys in Event #2. Stay tuned for the fireworks on Monday. The two Ops teams made a fine rookie appearance at the event with the Bass Busters leading all teams with the highest average value per fish with $2.40, and it's obvious to many observers that these teams hold potential. The real test comes in Event #2 when the Tournament moves to the big waters of Main Injector.
